Please note in 2021 this festival will take place virtually
We invite the community to honor our ancestors on November 2, 2021 for the Mission District’s annual Day of the Dead Festival of Altars. Historically we have celebrated with a free inclusive procession and ceremony at Potrero Del Sol Park.
This year in order to uphold the safety of our communities, our event will take place virtually. Together we will honor our oldest Ancestor, Earth and the lives lost due COVID 19.
Our virtual offering will premiere on November 2 at 7pm.
Visit our Eventbrite page for ticketing. Our event will be a collaborative ritual with poetry, music, dance, and altar installations. While the Day of the Dead holiday is rooted in Mesoamérican spiritual traditions, we hold at the heart of our event that the circle of life and death unites us all.
Although not the large procession and event typically held in The Mission, here’s an option for an in person event in San Francisco for 2021
