Origami Palooza 2025 is San Francisco Japantown’s annual celebration of origami, featuring free activities, folding tutorials for all ages, lectures, and master classes with origami legends Robert J. Lang and John Collins. Enjoy paper folding competitions, hands-on sessions with local teachers, and unique opportunities to learn from world-renowned experts. The general event is free; master classes require pre-registration and a fee.

Japan Center East Mall and Hotel Kabuki Sakura Room, San Francisco

Join us for the biggest Origami event in San Francisco’s Japantown – Origami Palooza! This FREE event celebrates Origami – the Art of Paper Folding.

Folders of all ages and skill levels welcome.

Highlights include:

Fold With A Master – Join this year’s Masters for classes and lectures.

Robert J. Lang is an American physicist who is one of the foremost origami artists and theorists in the world. Register for a rare opportunity to ‘Fold with a Master’ at one of his 2 classes (pre-registration required, $10 per class entry fee). He will also do a lecture on Origami, Science, and Math.

John Collins, better known worldwide as “The Paper Airplane Guy” held the world record for Paper Aircraft Distance for 10 years. Don’t miss this opportunity to ‘Fold with a Master’ and participate in fun challenges to test your aircraft folding skills!

Fold Your Own – Learn a really cool model or two from our team of local Origami teachers

Compete – Submit your best work to compete for prizes (advanced registration required)
