4th Annual Free “Opera In The Amphitheater” (Novato)

Opera takes the stage outdoors in Novato this September with the 4th Annual Opera in the Amphitheater, a free afternoon of live performances, family activities, and Italian-inspired treats on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Presented by the Hamilton Arts Foundation, the event brings professional opera singers to the Hamilton Amphitheater for two sets of famous arias and songs. This year’s program celebrates the 100th anniversary of Puccini’s Turandot and the 270th birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The afternoon kicks off at 3 p.m. with activities for kids, including opera education, trivia, games, and face painting. The music begins at 4 p.m., followed by a raffle and complimentary Italian sweets and nonalcoholic bubbly during the intermission.

Admission is free, with optional $20 donation tickets available. You can bring a picnic blanket or chair and settle into the amphitheater or grassy area for an afternoon of live music under the open sky. And despite the name, you don’t have to be an opera fan to attend. The organizers specifically welcome curious newcomers who want to give opera a try.
