Camilo Landau of Radio Café shares his enthusiasm about the upcoming festival, “I‘m really excited about another year of Fiesta Alameda. It’s so important that we have music and culture here on the island and this is always such a great community event.” Camilo Landau is a music industry professional and Post-Latin music advocate from the San Francisco Bay Area. He is also an accomplished musician, record producer, concert promoter, and composer. He is the Director of Cultural Programs at Acción Latina and co-founder of Round Whirled Records, Carne Cruda, and the SF Son Jarocho Festival, and was elected Vice President of the Recording Academy, San Francisco chapter after serving for four years on the Board of Governors. He is a 2016 GRAMMY nominee.
What’s a festival without a great bar? Fiesta Alameda features hometown Latino-owned Building 43 Winery serving their delicious wines and craft brews from Latino-owned Del Cielo Brewery. Margaritas and more mixed with award-winning tequilas Olmeca Altos and Código 1530 will be available at the bar. And there will be a host of local craft beers, wines, cocktails, and nonalcoholic beverages to select from.
Experience the festival from the Fiesta Fanaticas VIP Zone with spectacular views of the stage, 2 drink tickets and private bar, and spacious seating. This is a great place to bring your food, to hang with friends and family, and to enjoy the entertainment on the music stage. Not only will you have a great time, you will also be helping support this cultural arts festival financially, helping to keep it admission free for all ages to enjoy.
BrightLife Kids: A CalHOPE Program by Brightline is sponsoring the kids’ crafting zone. Kids of all ages will be getting crafty and creative with Rhythmix Cultural Works. Join them to get inspired, have fun, and learn about Latin culture. Art activities for all ages include: Make your own Alebrijes (Mexican Spirit Animals); Frida Kahlo-Inspired Flower Crowns; Take & Shake Maracas; and more. (Coloring pages are also available.) The USS Hornet Jet Cockpit from an F8 Crusader will be available for attendees to sit in the pilot’s seat and for photo opportunities. Families can also browse from dozens of artisan vendors selling art, body products, apparel, jewelry, and more.

About the festival producers:
West End Arts District – “Inspiring Communities. Transforming Spaces.”
Alameda’s West End Arts District (WEAD) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2015 by community member and business owner Sandra Russell who understood that the best way to build community and revitalize the area was through the arts. Blues, Brews & BBQ launched that same year and continues to be the WEAD’s flagship annual festival, attracting crowds of music lovers to Alameda every September. Since then, WEAD’s programming has expanded, presenting dance, theater, music, comedy and subculture events; commissioning visual art and murals; and providing fiscal sponsorship and support for arts groups and artists working on the Island.
