> EVENT UPDATE: This event is no longer taking place.

San Francisco’s Bayview Neighborhood comes alive for 3rd on Third, a community-wide arts celebration for the whole family happening from 5-8 pm every third Friday of the month, at Bayview Town Center (Mendell Plaza at 3rd Street & Oakdale Ave).

The monthly event features pop-up galleries, pop-up attractions, local food vendors, a beer and wine garden, a special children’s zone with free art-making activities, and a stage featuring talent from Bayview and beyond.

Come celebrate Juneteenth in the Bayview on Friday 17, 2016 from 5-8 pm. Juneteenth is a holiday that commemorates the abolition of slavery and the emancipation of African-American slaves throughout the Confederate South.

Look forward to:

  • Preview of Crack. Rumble. Fly. – Play by A.C.T.’s Stage Coach program exploring the stories, dreams, questions, and connections of people living in San Francisco’s Bayview-Hunters Point
  • Live Prince tribute performance
  • Scrabble Game Show – Prizes for winners
  • Spoken word, dance performances, and other music.
  • Arts activities for children
  • Bayview food & drink vendors
  • Information booths

Come back on Saturday 18th from 12-3 pm because A.C.T. will be performing the original play Crack. Rumble. Fly in Mendell Plaza. Commissioned by A.C.T. from Los Angeles-based playwright Aleshea Harris, Crack. Rumble. Fly.: The Bayview Stories Project is inspired by Sophocles’ Oedipus the King and interweaves the lives and experiences of African Americans living in Bayview-Hunters Point, bringing to theatrical life the stories

There will also be Spoken Word performances by Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) artists.
