Come celebrate the 41st annual Northern California Book Awards on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Koret Auditorium in the San Francisco Public Library on 100 Larkin Street in San Francisco. This event is free and open to the public. The 41st annual Northern California Book Awards recognizes the best published works of 2021 by Northern California authors and California translators state-wide, presented by the Northern California Book Reviewers, Poetry Flash, and San Francisco Public Library, with our community partners Mechanics’ Institute Library, Women’s National Book Association-San Francisco Chapter, and PEN West. Medicine for Nightmares Bookstore & Gallery will be the in-person bookseller. Book sales and signing will take place in the lobby of Koret Auditorium following the ceremony.

The California Translation Awards in Poetry and Prose will honor works of translation by translators who are based all over the Golden State, this year hailing from Berkeley, Mill Valley, Monterey, Santa Cruz, and elsewhere.

The Fred Cody Award for Lifetime Achievement and Service will be presented to Isabel Allende, a distinguished member of the Northern Californian literary community. The winning authors will make remarks and briefly present their books. Nominated books will also be available for purchase at the NCBA 2022 Online Bookstore hosted by City Lights on Bookshop.org; links to be posted at Poetryflash.org.

Northern California reviewers and editors, members of Northern California Book Reviewers, select the awards. Membership is open to all eligible Northern California reviewers and editors. All of the nominated books, the NCBR Recommended Reading List, will be acknowledged and celebrated at the ceremony.
