$5 “Bike Love Film Fest” w/ Spokeland at New Parkway (Oakland)

Please join us for a screening of bike-related short films at the New Parkway on Sunday, May 7, 2023, from 12:30 – 2:30. All proceeds will benefit Spokeland Bike Co-op , a community run non-profit in West Oakland. We will also be hosting a raffle with some really cool prizes!

At Spokeland we are a diverse collective of local East Bayers as well as new and established Oaklanders of all backgrounds.  Our goal is to offer a collaborative environment where learning bicycle mechanics is fun and welcoming with a representative core of volunteers and staff who reflect the many cultures of Oakland.  We offer affordable bicycle parts and refurbished bikes, as well as accessories, workshops, on site tool rental and one-on-one mechanical assistance.  We primarily rely on community memberships and donations to stay open.  As a community collective we seek community involvement, investment and feedback to maintain this shared utility.

We’ll be screening a series of 8 short films for 91 total minutes called “Bike Love.”

The collection mingles extremely short films with a few heartfelt pieces that tell stories of how bicycles are changing lives. This year’s collection includes a collection of fun, lighthearted films, as well as important stories from all over the globe.
This diverse program of bike movies is perfect for an all-ages audience.
This program includes films funded through the Filmed by Bike BIPOC Filmmaker Grant Fund, presented by Machines for Freedom and funded by individuals like you.

Raffle tickets are available at the shop Sundays or at the door before the film fest begins.
