Event Details

Lay down some lyrics and write down some rhymes at the Contemporary Jewish Museum’s Magnetic Poetry Slam workshop on July 21.

Take a Thursday night after work to attend this latest installment of the museum’s popular D.I.Y workshop RitLab, which is back for a summer of slam poetry and art making in honor of Gertrude Stein, the subject of the Museum’s current exhibition “Seeing Gertrude Stein: Five Stories.”

The workshop is free with admission (which is $5 after 5 p.m.), so channel Stein and the spirit of her famous salons as you create your own word magnets and personalized poetry tin, participate in a poetry slam hosted by slaminatrix Mona Webb and listen to a mash-up performance by comedian and poet Joshua Walter of The Vowel Movement.

Contemporary Jewish Museum (736 Mission Street, SF) | Thursday, July 21 | 6-8p | $5*
