If Uber seems a bit too pricey and you don’t mind making a few new friends along your ride, then you may want to try uberPOOL – it’s a shared ride carpool – where they pack you in with someone else who’s also going your way.
Typically uberPool rides save you between 20-50% off the normal UberX fares, but for the time being, the rates are now a flat $5 to travel anywhere in the city of SF for up to two people. You don’t have to enter in any promo code. Just request uberPOOL and ride for $5. And no word on when this promotion ends.
Plus, if you’re going to the airport, you can get $15 uberPOOL fares for rides outside San Francisco, as far south as SFO. That can save you up to $40 from a traditional cab ride.
