500 Capp Street Opening Weekend: Art, Live Music & Food Trucks | SF

The 500 Capp Street Foundation carries on the legacy of late conceptual artist David Ireland by affording a broad audience the opportunity to experience his home and masterpiece as well as his extant body of work.

In the spirit of Ireland, the Foundation conducts public tours and events, hosts a residency program, and maintains a permanent archive of personal papers, photographs and publications at 500 Capp Street.

January 15–17, 2016 | 11 am to 4 pm

500 Capp Street, San Francisco
FREE and open to the public.

Explore David Ireland’s site-specific masterpiece at 500 Capp Street in San Francisco’s Mission district and experience never-before-seen works by the late conceptual artist. The weekend features open-house tours led by local artists (SOLD OUT), live accordion music, food trucks, a live-art intervention and a chance to relax in the home’s newly added outdoor terrace.

January 15

  • 5:30 pm: Threshold Christening Action: An Original Work By Artist Mark Thompson

January 16

  • Noon to 6 pm: Live Art Performance, 6 Block Scores, presented by Southern Exposure
    3030 20th Street, San Francisco; outdoors along 20th Street between Capp and Harrison Streets 
    Southern Exposure welcomes the David Ireland House to the 20th Street corridor and celebrates Ireland’s work in a series of live durational performances and evolving sculptures that will take place in its main gallery and along 20th Street beginning at noon. Performances by three Bay Area contemporary artists include:

    • Kari Marboe, Basement Clay
    • Minji Sohn
    • Haegen Crosby
  • 7 pm: SOLD OUT Curator Talk: Karen Tsujimoto on David Ireland
    500 Capp Street, San Francisco
