Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 will be played by the 40 best men’s and women’s international teams at AT&T Park from July 20–22. Rugby fans from around the world will experience rugby sevens, a faster-paced format that features 15-minute matches and seven players from each team. This historic event will feature knockout-style match play for the first time, which means every match counts.
At a special event the evening of Monday May 14, fans will be treated to 5-on-5 touch rugby game played on a barge on the water in McCovey Cove followed by a Giants Ruby Night pre-game reception in Seals Plaza with the Rugby World Sevens Trophies.
- 3:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – 5 on 5 touch rugby played on a barge on the water in McCovey Cove featuring local male and female players – Free and open to the public
- 4:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. – Giants Rugby Night pre-game reception in Seals Plaza (Special Giants game ticket required for entry) – Many rugby fans will be in costume, Rugby World Cup Sevens Trophies featured

Rugby sevens has proven to be a major factor in America’s rapidly growing interest of the sport, which was kick-started by Rugby Sevens inclusion in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
