65th Annual Oakland Puppet Fair at Children’s Fairyland (Aug. 27-28)
Children’s Fairyland’s 65th annual Puppet Fair Weekend returns August 27 and 28, 2022! Join us as we transform Fairyland into a magical world of puppetry. The weekend-long celebration is dedicated to inspiring young minds and encouraging a love for theater and the performing arts.

Tickets are $15 and include full theme park admission
- Our Storybook Puppet Theater debuts a brand new Vietnamese show, Tấm and Cám, an ancient and elegant Vietnamese tale — inspired by opera, ballet, and theatre — with a similar plot to the tale of Cinderella.
- Our Storybook Puppet Theater performs 3 Dinosaur’s Gruff, a modern dinosaur tale, for the littlest ones.
- Alex Evans, head puppeteer at the Bob Baker’s Marionettes, a beloved Los Angeles institution in puppetry, performs Bob Baker’s Marionette Varieties Show.
- Saturday, August 27 Special Events
- Will Lewis, a graduating senior from Oakland School for the Arts and aspiring puppeteer, makes a special appearance to perform an avant-garde production of the Danish tale, TinderBox.
- Visitors will be greeted by friendly roaming puppets and invited to craft caterpillar puppets with the San Francisco Bay Area Puppeteers’ Guild.
- Sunday, August 28 Special Events
- The Fratello Marionettes make a special appearance to perform their brand-new show, Jack and the Beanstalk.
While you’re taking a break from a puppet show and strolling through the fair, prepare to be awed by displays of exquisite hand, marionette, and rod-style puppets, all from a variety of artists that span decades — from the 1950s television era to modern times.

Tickets are $15 for guests age 1-100 and include both Puppet Fair attendance and park entrance for the day.
