9th Berkeley Carillon Festival (Aug 12-13)

The 9th Berkeley Carillon Festival will celebrate new and long-standing members of the extended carillon community at Berkeley, with recitals at noon and 2pm on both Saturday, August 12, and Sunday, August 13, 2023.

The opening recital on Saturday at noon will comprise music from the Baroque period up to 2022 played by Associate Carillonists Erika Anderson & Peter Trost, and Assistant Carillonist Brunston Poon.

Saturday afternoon’s concert will present a fun set of duets in a variety of styles that will set the tower singing.

Guest recitalists Simone Browne and Abby Pan, along with student carillonists Anna Zhao, Michelle Pan, and Timothy Yang (studying with University Carillonist Jeff Davis), will perform engaging repertoire spanning widely from Dutch and Belgian composers to former Berkeley University Carillonist Ronald Barnes on Sunday at noon.

Jeff Davis, Assistant Carillonist Dave Hunsberger, and UCSB University Carillonist Wesley Arai will close the festival on Sunday afternoon with a delightful program that celebrates both the Berkeley carillon and the magic of carillon music writ large.
