One of the most important things when starting a company is defining workplace culture. With multiple demands and oftentimes a fast-paced environment, startups face unique challenges and opportunities in creating the foundation for the company they envision. A key part of that foundation is embodying a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
What would it look like to honor the identities of employees? How do we increase employee engagement and retention on our team? Where do we even start when discussing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)? These are ongoing questions to ask ourselves as we think of ways to closely align DEI with our mission, values, and practice.
Join us and our special guest speakers who will share their successes and challenges as it relates to embodying a DEI framework at startups.
How is this going to work?
We’ll be sending out a calendar invite to all attendees one week prior to the event. In that invite, you’ll get a bunch of details on how it works, as well as a fun list of topics we’ll pre-set for you (don’t worry we’ll leave some room for random on the fly conversations too, you can just consider these icebreakers!). You won’t need to download any software, but for the best experience, we recommend having a computer with camera and microphone ability.
Agenda:
5:00-5:30pm- Event check-in begins; small group conversations
5:30-5:45pm- Welcome, SGO intro, housekeeping/announcements, intro to panelists
5:45-6:15pm- Moderated panel discussion
6:15-6:30pm- Audience Q&A
6:30-7:00pm- Closing and virtual networking
