On Sunday, August 26, 2012, Oaklandish presents the 4th Annual Radio Regatta — where you float on Lake Merritt, drinking, tanning and listening to the DJ spinning from the shore over a micro FM transmitter.
There will be free gondola rides (first come, first served), plus half-price pontoon and boat rentals for the day.
Oaklandish Radio Regatta 2012
This is a BYOBB (Bring Your Own Boom Box) event. The Oaklandish rig will be parked at the Lake Merritt Sailboat House with a live, micro FM station broadcasting from the shore with tunes from DJ Dion Decibels, The Whooligan, and the original Bobby Peru.
The event is free and open to the public — folks are encouraged to bring food for a picnic by (or on) the lake.
For a suggested sliding scale donation of $5-20 you can get a wristband and cup and you’ll be served cold Linden Street beer and homemade sangria.
The proceeds from the event will support Oaklandish’s community work and Children’s Fairyland youth outreach programs.
