SF’s “CAREN” Act Wants to Ban Racially-Motivated 911 Calls
Thanks to KRON4 for letting us know that San Francisco has introduced the ‘CAREN’ Act which, if enacted, would aim to outlaw racially-motivated 911 calls.
‘Karen’ is the meme that has spread widely over social media often seen in viral videos, a slang term for an obnoxious, angry, entitled, and often racist middle-aged white woman who uses her privilege to get her way.
CAREN is spelled with a “C” instead of the famous “K” in Karen that stands for Caution Against Racially Exploitative Non-Emergencies.
That is why San Francisco Supervisor Shamann Walton introduced a new ordinance that aims to stop ‘Karens’ from making racially-biased 911 calls and charge ‘Karens’ who do this in the future.
His latest tweet the supervisor said that “Racist 911 calls are unacceptable that’s why I’m introducing the CAREN Act at today’s SF Board of Supervisors meeting. This is the CAREN we need. Caution Against Racially Exploitative Non-Emergencies.”
