SF’s Beloved “Samy’s Camera” Abruptly Closes After 10 Years
Sadly, the camera shop, at 1090 Bryant St., closed its doors on February 28, 2023.

The San Francisco Standard shared the news that San Francisco camera shop “Samy’s Camera” abruptly closed its doors on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
San Francisco photographers and videographers have been coming to Samy’s Camera, located at 1090 Bryant St., for the past 10 years for their camera gear. They were one of the go-to places for photography and videography equipment rentals for many artists in the city.
Sadly, the staff and even the assistant manager, Trevor Smith, had no prior knowledge of the upcoming closure. Corporate only let the staff know that they would be letting the lease lapse and closing the San Francisco with one day’s notice. The store abruptly closed its doors without any flash sales.
