Join us for a moving evening between friends, as authors Andrew McCarthy and Don George discuss Andrew’s recently released travel memoir on friendship. Who Needs Friends: An Unscientific Examination of Friendship Across America is a poignant and provocative exploration of male friendship and loneliness by McCarthy, chronicling his experience crisscrossing the country in an effort to reconnect with friends from the past.
Andrew McCarthy is an actor from films such as Pretty in Pink and St. Elmo’s Fire, and a travel writer who has written for numerous publications and been named Travel Journalist of the Year by The Society of American Travel Writers. He has authored numerous books, including Walking with Sam, chronicling his 500-mile trek across Spain with his son, and the travel memoir, The Longest Way Home. He will be joined in conversation by bestselling author and Conference Chair, Don George, who is, as it happens, a featured friend in this book about the importance of friendship.
