North Korean Taco Invasion
Through March 21, a pop-up food truck called the Pyongyang Express is popping up almost daily around town, handing out free, yummy Korean tacos. The only way to know where they will be is by checking their website.
The promo is thanks to SoCal video game maker THQ which is hyping up the new game Homefront about end-times vision of total war, circa 2027, when a nukes-fueled Korean People’s Army invades the U.S. A few weeks ago, THQ released 10,000 red balloons into the air at a mock lunchtime rally at Yerba Buena Gardens against the North Korean regime. San Francisco loves a good rally, and good tacos too. They probably figured that out.
Where’s The Truck?
The truck has been all over town. They were in the Soma on March 9 and then giving away tacos in front of Glide Memorial Church (“Homefront for the Homeless,” they called it) the next day. On March 11, they were at the corner of Sansome & Vallejo Street and then two days later were at Embarcadero & Broadway. Again, there’s only one way to know where they are for sure, and that’s by checking the Facebook or Twitter pages.
By the way, if you spot the Pyongyang Express, it’s super cheap food regardless of the promo:
