Alameda Theatre & Cineplex celebrates its 80th anniversary with the red carpet, historic tours, a vintage car show and $.80 cent admission to a special 1932 movie program.
Vintage cars will set the stage under the marquee for a red-carpet $.80 cent admission to a 7:00pm special presentation which will include Shirley Temple’s “Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm”(1932), Laurel & Hardy’s “The Chimp”(1932), The Mills Brothers bouncing-ball rendition of “I Ain’t Got Nobody” (1932) and a bubbly Betty Boop short, all mimicking the original 1932 Opening Night Dedication program. All anniversary ticket revenues will be donated to local charity. Tickets are limited and are on sale at the Theatre Box Office. Doors – 6pm, Show – 7pm.
Sign up in the lobby for free “on-the-hour” historic tours during the day from 12pm – 6pm.
Alameda Mayor Gilmore and Theatre Owner Kyle Conner will prompt the evenings’ festivities filled with live entertainment and music on the Historic Alameda Theatre stage.
