Viva CalleSJ is a free Open Streets program that temporarily closes miles of San Jose streets to bring communities together to walk, bike, skate, play and explore the city like never before on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 10 am-3 pm.
Each year’s event opens upwards of six miles of streets, through some of San Jose’s most iconic neighborhoods for people to come out and play for the day.
It’s not a race, and you don’t need a bike to participate. You can walk or skate. There’s no beginning or end. You can start anywhere and go as far as you would like. The flow of participants goes both ways, just like regular traffic.
Viva CalleSJ is a fun and innovative way to encourage physical activity, safe streets for walking and biking, and a sense of community. They also included a 5K Run that starts at 8 am ending at 9:30 am.
