First Annual Wheelchair Race Championship | Oakland

Think you have what it takes to be named the ultimate wheelchair racing champion? Come compete against some of the best wheelchair racers in the galaxy.

The Championship will consist of several 2 person matches which will lead to the finale of the 2 best racers racing for the title of Ultimate Wheelchair Racing Champion. Registration opens at 2pm and closes at 2:59 pm. The races will begin promptly at 3pm.

Bring your friends to cheer you on. Signs are permitted (must remain on the side lines). There will be a BBQ grill, so bring food and booze.

Official rules:
1. All racers must race in the wheelchairs provided at the event.
2. These wheelchairs are manual and must be powered by the racers physical effort (using your hands and arms)
3. Racers that intentionally crash into opponents will be disqualified. (It is recommended that each racer wear gloves to prevent injury.)
4. Each contestant must be registered in the race and sign a waiver agreeing that you are responsible for any injuries incurred during the event.

Note: The organizers acknowledge that this event is taking place on April Fool’s Day, but they that it is 100% real and happening. Have fun!
