“Arm Day, Leg Day” Art Pop-Up at Chinatown Flower Market (Jan. 25-26)

The Chinese Culture Center proudly presents an Art Pop-Up at the 2025 Chinatown Flower Market Fair on January 25 and January 26 on San Francisco Chinatown’s iconic Grant Avenue. The Art Pop-Up will feature large scale art installations “Arm Day, Leg Day” by artist Bijun Liang, representing fortune, luck and protection, as well as interactive activities with limited edition Lunar New Year themed giveaways for the public. Don’t miss this special celebration and super fun pop-up in the heart of Chinatown!

“Arm Day, Leg Day” offers a playful take on traditional Chinese guardian lions and beckoning cats, blending symbols of protection and good fortune. Festival-goers who pet these inflatable cats can receive “福 Body Protection,” a clever nod to the Chinese character for good fortune (福) and the idea of full-body wellness and strength. Guardian lions are revered as protectors, while beckoning cats are believed to attract prosperity, “Arm Day, Leg Day” brings a fresh interpretation of these traditional symbols through large scale inflatable installations. The emphasis on physical strength and vitality also aligns with the cultural importance placed on health and wellbeing during this celebratory time of year.
