D-Structure has a new show going up Thursday, July 19th and artists Nicky Gaston and Colby Quinlan have been working tirelessly to put together “In Our Nature”.
In Our Nature is an art collaboration of two like minds who share similar influences in our art work. With a strong drive for creation and an appreciation for the outdoors they have worked together to create paintings that reflect our passion.
As usual, giveaways, music, art and fashion. There will be free drinks and DJ Ollie on the decks. Event kicks off at 8pm until about 11pm.
About the Artists:
Nicky Gaston
Local artist, Nicky Gaston hails from Emerald Hills, CA. Nicky’s always had a love for art, skateboarding, and nature. He spent much of his childhood energy outdoors and when he came home his concentration was shifted towards his artwork. When Nicky was 16, he found a way to consolidate his current activities into the form of painting. Nicky’s work consists of utilizing recycled materials while using a combination of oil and acrylic paint to create symmetrical designs. Inspired by his passions, his outdoor surroundings became the imagery as recycled skateboards became the canvas for his work. He is currently finishing up his education in graphic design at Notre Dame where he plans to grow his digital skills. Collecting hundreds of used skateboards and continuing his adventurous expeditions, Nicky extends his abilities to constantly create from mixed media.
Colby Quinlan
Colby Quinlan grew up in a small town by the name of Woodside, CA where he continues to pursue his passion in the arts. With an educational background in art at Humboldt State and the ability to create based on memory, Colby’s abstract surrealism creates stunning imagery that is left only for the observer to interpret. Colby is fueled by a deep appreciation for action sports and spends his daytime working tedious construction jobs. His constant love for surfing inspired himself to create a large half pipe located directly under his massive tree house. Extremely humble, energetic, and talented Colby’s work is an extremely original form of many skills. By the end of the day Colby draws from his wild experiences to gain understanding that all his time and money was certainly, well spent.
