Join the 1947 Partition Archive to learn about the little known, but devastating Partition in 1947, the creation of India and Pakistan and to hear from survivors.
Free, but RSVP is required for each event.
The 1947 Partition Archive is the first non-profit organization to launch out of UC Berkeley’s start-up accelerator, Berkeley Skydeck and the event will take place at the Skydeck at UC Berkeley where you can enjoy stunning 360 degree bay views.

Understanding Partition – Doors at 2pm
- Anupama Chandratreya sings
- Partition eye-witnesses share their stories
- Literary readings by Dr. Roshni Rustomji-Kerns (Sonoma State Univ.)
- Dr. Priya Satia (Stanford Univ.) speaks about Partition and colonialism
“Earth 1947” Screening – 4pm
- Screening of Earth 1947, based on “Cracking India” by Dr. Sidhwa
- Closing remarks; final art viewing; Gautam Tejas Ganeshan performs
Art Auction – 6:30 pm
