Our Earth: Embracing All Communities

Alameda Education Foundation presents another incredible season of student artwork in Art Changes. The theme for this school year, Our Earth: Embracing All Communities, is based on the collage paintings of Salma Arastu as well as the poetry of Maw Shein Win and the photography of Will Chang. Salma Arastu’s paintings celebrate nature and the interdependence of all living creatures. Belonging and self-knowledge are important aspects of Maw Shein Win’s poetry. Ancestry and the natural world are both mysterious and clarifying in her work. Will Chang has turned his eye to our community: Alameda. Using long exposure, he has created night time images that shine with light.

Student artwork has been lovingly contributed from: Bay Farm Elementary and Middle School, Earhart, Edison, Franklin, Love, Maya Lin, Otis, Paden and Ruby Bridges Elementary Schools, Lincoln Middle School, Wood Middle School, Alameda High School and Encinal Junior & Senior High School.
