Event Details

In this roundtable conversation, curators Stuart Horodner and Betti-Sue Hertz and San Francisco-based artist Sergio de la Torre discuss the relationship between local artists and their city’s arts institutions. What expectations and desires influence the activities of those who make art and those who exhibit it? What are the values of local showcase exhibitions and biennials? How do arts professionals take advantage of where they live and what can they do to contribute? And how is this being informed by the big questions circulating in the art world at large?

The panel will probe whether curators and artists understand each other and suggest ways of staying relevant and sustainable in today’s globalized art ecology.
