From the Ashes takes an in-depth look at the coal industry and explores its role in climate change, while offering solutions that could help revive the struggling economies of dying mining towns and still safeguard the environment. It uses a public health lens to showcase the many individual stories of those who are both dependent on and being made ill by the industry.

Funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, the film is a vehicle for amplifying the conversation about the coal industry and presenting an alternative vision for our energy future.
From the Ashes features our own Mayor Ed Lee discussing San Francisco’s renewable energy goals and achievements.
