Through the power of art, the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco brings the diverse cultures of Asia to life.
Located in the heart of San Francisco, the museum is home to one of the world’s finest collections of Asian art, boasting more than 18,000 awe-inspiring artworks ranging from ancient jades and ceramics to contemporary video installations.

Asian Heritage Street Celebration | Asian Art Museum: Free Admission Day (Every First Sunday)Explore the museum for free during this annual program held during the Asian Heritage Street Celebration outside the museum.
In conjunction with the Asian Heritage Street Celebration and International Museum Day, the Tenderloin community’s Southeast Asian Arts & Culture Coalition (SEAACC) presents music and dance from Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. The SEAACC is an organization dedicated to the diverse cultures of the Tenderloin neighborhood. Other activities include the Center for Asian American Media’s cinema showcase, docent tours and hands-on art making that will bring the museum’s masterpieces to light.
2015 Schedule:
- Art activities: 11 am to 3 pm
- Southeast Asian Cultural Showcase: 12:30–1:30 pm
- CAAM cinema showcase: 2:30–3:30 pm
They are also celebrating International Museum Day. The 2015 theme, Museums for a Sustainable Society, recognizes the role of museums as important locations of cultural exchange and mutual understanding, enriching the lives of community members.
