Event Details

Local astronomers talking about stars, planets, and the universe at your neighborhood bar. No PhD required.

Astronomy on Tap is is a free public lecture series where astronomers give short, laid-back talks over drinks at local bars. No background in science required — our scientists share cool stuff about space while the audience just sits back and relaxes, with plenty of time to indulge their curiosity and ask whatever questions they want.

This month, we’re hosting:

Charli Sakari, PhD – Studying the Early Universe with Metal-Poor Stars

and

Orion Ning – From Astrophysics to Axions: The Glorious Hunt for Dark Matter

Sakari is an Assistant Professor in the Physics & Astronomy Department at San Francisco State University. Ning is a PhD student at the University of California, Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.

Astronomy on Tap takes place in cities all over the world. This is a revival of tehe San Francisco chapter, which regularly hosted events before the pandemic. We’re excited to be back on a monthly basis!

The event is free, but there is a 1-2 drink minimum.
