Awesöme Orchestra | Epic Free Classical Concerts
Awesöme Orchestra brings people together for musical adventures. Their free sessions are part performance, part open rehearsal. They provide the sheet music, and anyone is welcome to play or to listen.
The Awesöme Orchestra Collective is the Bay Area’s most adventurous reading orchestra, dedicated to playing excellent orchestral music of all kinds with amazing musicians in a fun, casual environment focused on high musicianship. Their events are always free, but they ask for a pay-what-you-will donation to help cover basic costs.
In this fully-immersive evening of exquisite spontaneity, audiences will be seated on the Curran stage during a working rehearsal of Awesöme Orchestra: a collective of one hundred musicians led by conductor David Möschler.
The musicians—many playing for the first time under one roof—will gather to rehearse and refine three pieces by Bay Area composers, including two world premiere selections.
Conducted by: David Möschler
Featured Selections:
- Joowan Kim – Eudaimonia (world premiere reading)
- David Jenkins – “San Francisco” from Twelve (arr. Brian Adam McCune)
- John Adams – Grand Pianola Music – Movement 2, On The Dominant Divide
Special Guest Piano Soloists: Michael Anthony Schuler and Carl Pantle
