Gamelan in the Garden is a free showcase of Balinese performing arts held in the beautiful San Francisco Botanical Garden.
Performances will be held throughout the afternoon in different locations in the Garden, treating audiences to a wide array of dance and music styles from across Bali, featuring new works from Ni Nyoman Srayamurtikanti, I Gede Oka Artha Negara, and Cok Istri Putri Rukmini. There will also be plenty of time for performer-audience interaction after each show. This event is family-friendly and perfect for audience members who have never heard Balinese gamelan before. Come for your favorite ensemble, or pack a lunch and enjoy the whole day!
Limited seating available at the venue. Bringing a blanket or a camp chair is recommended. There is a modest admission fee to the SF Botanical Gardens (free for SF residents). Please see the Garden’s website at www.sfbg.org for more information.
