Cancelled – Basement Comedy Night: “The People Under The Stairs” | Mission Dist.
Please Note: “The People Under The Stairs” comedy show has completely transformed and moved to a completely new location. It is now called, “Comedy Night at The Uptown” and it’s weekly on Wednesdays from 7-9 pm at The Uptown in Oakland.
“The People Under The Stairs” is monthly comedy show in a basement below an antique store, presented by Adam Pearlstein, Ashton Tate and Joey Avery.
The show takes place at Viracocha on the second Monday of every month.

And headliner, Torio Van Grol was first discovered by a gentleman naturalist in 1676, causing an uproar among the clergy, who claimed that he was placed on Earth by God as a test of faith. After much careful study, Torio has been widely accepted as real, though some controversy lingers. Many people believe that early humans coexisted peacefully with him, even caring for him and riding on his back as a form of transportation.
But Torio is not strong enough to carry people, instead relying on speed, cunning and a bulletproof eBay rating for survival.
Torio performs regularly at two of San Francisco’s premier comedy showcases. He also produces the popular Back Alley Comedy shows that began in Sonoma. He recently performed in the 2015 SF Sketchfest, as well as the 2014 Santa Cruz Fringe Festival and Sacramento Comedy Fest. In 2013, he finished runner-up in the Rooster T. Feathers comedy competition.
