Dr. Nipam Patel will talk about the patterns that are seen on butterfly wings and the functional significance of these patterns (avoid predators, startle predators, camouflage, etc.). He will also discuss the development of butterfly wings and the genetics controlling it all. He is the Professor of Genetics, Genomics and Development at U.C. Berkeley.
