Unplug and enjoy a peaceful, leisurely stroll through the art-adorned sidewalks of charming Carlmont Village Shopping Center at this open-air boutique supporting small makers. Celebrate spring with these 20 artisans’ newest handcrafted collections and enjoy chatting with them about their showcased latest, original works.

Natural Herbal Products
Erica Ben-Moshe created Elsa Herbals in 2011 in the lush coastal mountains of Northern California, born from her love of nature, herbs and organic living. Working with the bounty of plants and herbs on the land, she crafted a small line of natural herbal products and began taking her products to local fairs and markets. She quickly understood the growing demand for natural and organic skincare free of harmful and synthetic ingredients. Erica’s products are crafted in small batches from organic, natural, and ethically sourced ingredients and pure essential oils. Her line includes body butters and scrubs, facial serums and toners, essential oils, linen sprays, balms and more.

Painting
The paintings of Karen LeGault are set apart by a deceptive simplicity and a refined traditional Asian technique and aesthetic. Deeply rooted in Western realism and Taoist philosophy, her lush, distilled compositions express beauty, fragrance, rhythm and form through a magical palette where spirit is reflected through matter. She applies her extensive artistic skill, mastery and sensitivity to compose and balance color, shape, form and depth that engages all the senses, offering gorgeous paintings, commissions or prints that infuse with vibrant life and color the spaces in which you live, work and breathe.

Jewelry
Gayle Mayhew creates interesting, original, and fun adornments for those who view their ornamental choices as intrinsic to their personal expression. Her design intention is to enhance the sense of the individual, and to diminish the mundane and pervasive generic of big box-hood. Gayle says she considers her tempting bits of glass (created from melting rods of Italian glass) as little paintings. She combines these one-of-a-kind components with fabulous natural gemstones, pearls, or whatever interests her eye, to build whimsical wearable art pieces that enhance the wearer’s personal story.

Wearable Art
Edgar Martinez crafts one-of-a-kind wearable pop art by designing and painting jean jackets using a variety of techniques. By blending eclectic styles with modernism, he infuses each jacket with a story and a unique intention, ensuring every piece is truly distinctive. Each jean jacket is crafted from 100% cotton and features a unique design expertly sewn onto the back, then hand-painted with high-quality fabric paint to create a one-of-a-kind wearable masterpiece. Every design is entirely original and never repeated, allowing you to curate a truly exclusive piece of art.

Enjoy these among other professional artists at the Belmont Handcrafted Originals Art Fair. The event takes place Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at Carlmont Village Shopping Center, located on Ralston Avenue at Alameda de las Pulgas. The event is sponsored by the Carlmont Village Merchant Association.
