Berkeley residents 16 years old and older can now reserve a time to swim next week at City of Berkeley pools, which will re-open to the public on Monday, September 14.
These appointment times along with capacity limits and wellness checks are among the COVID-19 safety measures the City is putting in place to lower risk.
Non-residents will be able to sign up starting Friday, Sept. 11. Sign-ups for the subsequent week will also follow the same schedule, with residents getting the first opportunity starting Wednesday.
Berkeley swimmers can now make one 45-minute reservation per day between both the King and West Campus pools for the week of September 14-20. Pools will not accept drop-ins.
Make an appointment online or call (510) 981-5150 to sign up by phone.
At this time, appointments are available for lap swimming (16+) and independent exercise (18+). We expect to make youth programming available in the next phase of re-opening.
Non-residents can make reservations starting at 9 am on Friday, September 11.
Appointments for the week of September 21-27 will open for residents on Wednesday, September 16, and non-residents on Friday, September 18.
All visitors to City pools will be required to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols:
- Face coverings are required at all times except when in the water
- Staff will administer wellness checks at entry
- Locker rooms are closed except for bathroom use – please arrive ready to swim
At the end of their appointment, swimmers will have 5 minutes to exit the pool and facility.
For the first two weeks of operation, pool hours will be:
King Pool, 1700 Hopkins:
- Monday-Friday, 7am-11am, 5:30pm-8:30pm
- Saturday-Sunday: 9am-1pm, 5:30pm-8:30pm
West Campus Pool, 2100 Browning:
- Monday-Friday, 12pm-3pm, 5:30pm-8:30pm
