On Saturdays, beginning November 15th through December 20th, the Bernal Village Marketplace returns—transforming the historic 1924 former Bank of America building (closed in 2017 after 90 years of service) into a vibrant hub for local creativity. Thanks to the generosity of Baukunst, who graciously open their doors for these events, this striking and storied space becomes a rare gathering place where community and artistry meet.
This unique indoor pop-up, held several times a year, features 10–12 rotating, carefully curated vendors—from clothing designers and ceramicists to bakers, jewelers, vintage curators, graphic artists, soap and candle makers, and even organic pet food chefs.
What makes this event truly special is its hyperlocal focus: the majority of vendors live just blocks from the venue. The marketplace was designed specifically to support emerging makers who can’t afford the high fees of larger markets, offering space for just $50–$60 (compared to $100–$500+ elsewhere).
The intimate setting at Baukunst allows shoppers to connect directly with the makers, creating a personal, memorable experience. Situated on the same block as beloved Bernal Heights restaurants, bars, and specialty shops, it’s the perfect anchor for a day exploring the neighborhood.
Free admission, family- and pet-friendly, and a genuine celebration of Bernal Heights’ creative spirit. Come for the history, stay for the handmade treasures, and leave with something special—while supporting the local entrepreneurs who make this community shine.
