Bike to Work Day 2011 | SF

Join thousands of people all over the Bay Area by grabbing your helmet and hopping on your bike to commute to work.

The San Francisco Bike Coalition, along with merchants and the city’s blessing, is pushing commuters to try biking during Bike to Work Day 2011.

There are events going on all over the city. One of the main hubs is at the Ferry Building on Embarcadero. Here are some of the events going on during Bike to Work Day in San Francisco:

• Bicycling Commuter Convoys: Start the morning by riding your bike downtown (or to the South Bay) with a Commuter Convoy. They provide the enjoyment and safety of riding with a group and are led by experienced cyclists. Click here to see all Meet-Up Spots.
• Energizer Stations: Volunteers cheer on people riding bikes around San Francisco at 25 official Energizer Stations. Each station provides free snacks and beverages, as well as convenient reusable tote bags for future commutes, filled with free goodies such as bike lights. Click here for Full, Interactive Energizer Station map
• Bike Doctors: Mechanics from local bike shops will help you dust off your old bike and provide free basic bike maintenance to get you rolling on Bike to Work Day. Look for Bike Doctor locations on the guide map.
• SF Bicycle Coalition’s Annual Bike from Work Party and Fashion Show (6 pm to 10 pm ) DNA Lounge, 375 11th Street. $5 for SF Bike Coalition member. $10 for non-members.
