Event Details

Black Trans Lives Matter Rally – A rally for the protection and liberation of Black Trans Queer Lives. We will be protesting on the sidewalk of Billy DeFrank LGBTQ Center and Rainbow Crosswalk at 5 pm. Community members and leaders will begin speaking at 6 pm.

To speak at the Black Trans Lives Matter Rally, please email Sera Fernando at sera.fernando@svpride.com

Center Black Trans Queer Folx
Be intentional with our mission in lifting up the voices and experiences of black and brown trans queer folx. If you are non-Black, cisgender, or an LGBTQ+ ally, please use your voice to amplify the message of these communities.

Practice Social Distancing
Respect personal space. Maintain six feet apart from those not in your household. Wear face masks.

Be Hella Inclusive
We invite the entire South Bay across all intersecting identities to attend our rally. This will be a peaceful protest. Use the buddy system, be mindful of folx with accessibility needs, and be open to perspectives and ideas different than yours.

Make Connections
Seek out speakers and resources by networking. Know the names of trans folx who fell victim to transphobia within the past month: Tony McDade, Nina Pop, Iyanna Dior, Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells, and Riah Milton. Understand that Black trans queer folx are under attack.

Honor the Dead, and Fight Like Hell for the Living
Bring signs. Wear flowers. Wave flags. Liberation does not trickle down. Black trans queer folx cannot “wait their turn” for the police to stop killing Black cis men before addressing the violence against the Black trans queer community.

Scheduled Speakers
Please check back here early and often to see who will be speaking
