The Milk Bar presents “Bluegrass Sundays,” a free Sunday concert with several bands performing 90-minute sets, each playing old-timey bluegrass, Americana, folk, blues, and other sub-genres of acoustic music.

Bluegrass & Beyond is back with a four band lineup of great music for your listening and dancing pleasure.

July 31 Lineup:

• 4pm: Sans Souci Duet – Acoustic Improv, Jam Band Duet
  with Phil Coulson and Ted Burik
  Sans Souci Duet is a SF Bay Area acoustic guitar-based vocal duet that melds traditional American bluegrass with the explorative energy of jazz improvisation to create music not often heard within either genre. The duet elevates the best of both of these respected American musical traditions to create a new sound that provides listeners with an evocative musical experience.
• 5pm: The Next of Kin – Blues, Americana, Bluegrass
  Grab your moonshine, sit back on your front porch rocker and let The Next of Kin weave a patchwork of rustic sounds with a modern flair. We want to take you on a journey through the Heartland, from the Delta to the Bayou and everywhere in between. You’re in for a real humdinger, recalling you to the great American heritage that binds us all. With original songs that harken back to a time when the juke joints were covered in sawdust, The Next of Kin will be the melodic thread that binds the community together as it once was.
• 6:30pm: Hovering Breadcat – Folk, Americana, Bluegrass
  Derek Bodkin’s Hovering Breadcat is an eclectic gathering of spirited veteran musicians playing original and covers with funky folk grooves and bouncy bluegrass to delight your soul, bring you back and take you there. Hovering Breadcat Folk Ensemble… It’s what we do.
• 8:30pm: The Beauty Operators – Bluegrass, Country
  The Beauty Operators String Band was born out of San Francisco bluegrass jam scene. On the streets and in the clubs of San Francisco, they’re known for their high-energy live performances mixing traditional bluegrass, modern originals, and irreverent transformations of pop songs.
