Event Details

The San Francisco Japantown Merchants Association will be hosting their annual Obon Odori celebration on Sunday, August 7  in the Japantown Peace Plaza.

Featuring yosakoi dancing and the important Obon Odori dance, this traditional dance is meant to honor the memory of one’s ancestors in a spirit of joy and gratitude.

All members of the community are encouraged to attend, regardless of religious affiliation, and can even join in on the special Obon Odori dance themselves at this day of remembrance, community support and celebration.

Obon Entertainment Schedule
1:00 p.m. – Hanayagi Dance Group
1:15 p.m. – Ayako Hosokawa (Singer)
1:30 p.m. – Obon Odori
2:30 p.m. – Yosakoi Dance
