Event Details

Jim Shepard’s newest novel ‘The Book of Aron’ is the moving story of a peculiar yet clever boy living through World War II. In the beginning, he is able to keep his family alive by smuggling goods in the ghetto where they are confined, but as the war progresses, his family is slowly battered by deprivation, disease, and persecution. After they are separated completely, Aron’s life is changed when he meets Dr.Janusz Korczak, head of the Warsaw orphanage and a renowned advocate for children’s rights.

Carefully integrating fact and fiction, Shepard has crafted a new perspective on one of the darkest times in history. The Book of Aron is as mesmerizing as it is heartbreaking and inspiring despite the odds.
