Event Details

Local author and homesteader K. Ruby Blume presents an evening of local cheese in celebration of the release of her new book, Everyday Cheesemaking: How to Succeed Making Dairy & Nut Cheese at Home.

There will be goat milking and cheesemaking demonstrations, a Q & A sesh, and a homemade cheese taste-off. Bring your homemade dairy and vegan cheeses for tasting, compare notes with other local cheesemakers, or simply join in the fun.

K. Ruby Blume is an educator, gardener, beekeeper, artist, performer and activist, with 20+ years experience gardening in an urban setting. As a life-long learner, she has studied everything from permaculture to pollination ecology and has taught herself cheese making, canning and fermentation techniques. In 1998, Ruby founded The Institute of Urban Homesteading to promote localism and self-reliance through sustainability education.
