Event Details

Steve Schapiro is famous for his photographs of 60s counterculture in the Haight-Ashbury and the hippies that defined the era. In Bliss: An Exploration of the Current Hippie Counterculture & Transformational Festivals, Schapiro turns his focus on a subculture of hippies today who meditate and dance until they reach ecstatic states of joy at transformational festivals around the country.

Schapiro will also be presenting his newest book Bowie, a series of photographs taken during a rare, private photo session in Los Angeles. The fruit of that day’s collaboration between Bowie and Schapiro would provide some of the most iconic album art and magazine covers produced that decade. These mostly never-before-published images represent Bowie at his most creative and inspired.
