“The Box Shop” February Open House + Tour 130+ Murals (SF)

Join us this Sunday, February 25th, from 12 pm to 4 pm for the Box Shop Open House.

Come by and show some love for San Francisco’s last remaining industrial art space. Learn about the  artists, their studios, and how they collaborate in metal and industrial arts to build a thriving community.  

Catch some live music: from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm the trio Midnight Nomads performs their original tunes. Colin O’Leary (bass/vocals), Amy Carr (percussion/vocals), and Rado Randriamamonjy (guitar/vocals) will bring personal lyrics to life. Their lush harmonies draw influences from Afro-Latino music, blues, jazz, pop, Bossa Nova, and Americana.   

Make Art: kids and family art activities run by local artist Alejandra Rassvetaieff. Paint using metal heart stencils cut by Charlie Gadeken. The painted stencils will be applied to a larger piece to be displayed at The Box Shop.

Tour 130+ murals: we commissioned local artists to paint more than 130 murals throughout the space. The Box Shop is one of the Bay Area’s largest open-air mural art exhibits!

Enjoy the sculpture garden: take a stroll in our succulent garden, where plants and sculptures blossom in harmony.

Meet the artists: the Box Shop is a haven for metalworkers, stone carvers, seamstresses, painters, woodworkers, sculptors, bicycle engineers, electronic car producers, and more. Bring your questions and quench your curiosity.

See where massive art is born: colossal structures are created at The Box Shop. Some become treasured public art, like Entwined Meadow – an installation in Golden Gate Park in the winters of 2020-2024. We’re also a Burning Man arts community hub. Dozens of Playa sculptures and art cars are built at The Box Shop. Check out the space, machinery, tools, and people that make this magic possible!
