20th Annual Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival

At the intersection of dynamic artistic presentation and engaged civic participation, Brave New Voices presents platforms for young people to share their stories and speak their hopes and dreams about the contemporary realities of their everyday lives.

The 20th Annual Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival will convene young poets from around the world for 4 days of workshops, slams, showcases, community service, and civic participation events from July 19-22, 2017.

Most events are free but registration is required

Queeriosity is a place for queer and questioning youth to simply be and have their emerging artistic and activist voices celebrated.

This year, the 20th Annual Queeriosity will be produced as part of Brave New Voices.

  • 1 pm to 4 pm: Youth Writing & Performance Workshops

  • 7 pm: Grand Slam Finals
    War Memorial Opera House, 301 Van Ness Ave, SF

Brave New Teachers gives classroom teachers, arts educators, and administrators a unique set of arts education-based teaching tools designed to cultivate their students’ critical and creative thinking skills while increasing classroom engagement.

All Brave New Teachers participants will receive complimentary tickets to attend the Grand Slam Finals of the 20th Annual Brave New Voices on Saturday, July 22nd at the War Memorial Opera House at 7 pm.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided to participants.
