Gallery Opening: Breathing Life into Found Objects

When you put together things that other people have thrown out, you’re really bringing them to life — a spiritual life that surpasses the life for which they were originally created.
~ Sculptor Louise Nevelson.

Saumya Kodippily is an assemblage artist from the Bay Area. Seeking inspiration from discarded objects found in the streets of San Francisco, she makes artwork that has been described as a “carefully crafted pile of chaos.” Using materials such as animal bones, driftwood, rusty nails, old photographs and door handles, she creates visceral abstract art in response to industrialization.
