CANCELED: East Bay Burner Social | Oakland

> EVENT UPDATE: This event is no longer taking place.

East Bay Burners are a group of Burning Man devotees who all live around the East Bay and get together monthly to talk, exchange ideas, teach, learn and have fun.

The East Bay Burner Social takes place monthly in the run-up to the festival and features a different speaker or topic of discussion each time. The group is a great way to meet new Playa friends, or if you’re a beginner, to figure out what Burning Man is all about.

The East Bay Burner Socials are family friendly (kids welcome) wheelchair accessible, and to facilitate discourse, don’t have loud music.

For the first East Bay Burner Social of 2016 East Bay Burners are honored to have Christopher Breedlove of Burners Without Borders speak.

Burners Without Borders (BWB) is a grassroots, volunteer-driven, community activation platform whose goal is to unlock the creativity of local communities to solve problems that bring about meaningful change in the world. Supporting citizen-led initiatives from around the world in direct action & community resiliency projects, BWB is known for the unbridled creativity they bring to every civic project they do.

Plus the amazing Karen X. Cheng will have her Gravity Room on site. Jump in this mind-bending photo booth and you will look like you’re flying. Karen will present her Gravity Room and give tips on how to make a viral video.

As always, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to schmooze, ask questions and meet new people. $5 at the door.
