Rooney stole the hearts of millions of fans around the world in the early 2000s. Primarily a musical project of singer-songwriter Robert Schwartzman, evolving from its origin as an American rock band formed by high school friends in Los Angeles. The band is named after Ed Rooney, the principal in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Their music is reminiscent of British Invasion rock and 1980s pop and has been compared to The Beatles, The Cars, Jellyfish, Sloan, and Queen.

The band went to a lengthy hiatus. Schwartzman remained busy with a number of projects, including two solo records and a pair of film scores. Following years of silence, the band released Washed Away in May 2016. It was the fourth LP under the Rooney banner and was supported on the road by a completely retooled lineup. This summer of 2018 they are hitting the road across the US on A Cosmic Interlude Tour.
