Caltrain 150th Anniversary Celebration & Festival
Caltrain invites customers and the public to travel back into history for a celebration of 150 years of railroad service between San Francisco and San Jose.
To celebrate 150 years of continuous commuter rail service, and the oldest railroad west of the Mississippi, Caltrain is throwing a party from 11 am to 3 pm on October 19, 2013.
Free, but an RSVP is required to Jayme Ackemann: ackemannj@samtrans.com
To celebrate, Caltrain will be kicking off a year of festivities starting with a community festival in Menlo Park with speakers, historical re-enactment of the Picnic of 1863, live music, Moveable Feast food trucks, face painting, animal adoptions, model railroad displays, the Wells Fargo Stage Coach, historic buses, and Peninsula history displays.
Speakers include Caltrain’s Board Chair Ken Yeager along with Senator Jerry Hill, San Mateo County Supervisors Warren Slocum and Adrienne Tissier and Menlo Park Mayor Peter Ohtaki.
Caltrain will hold a formal ceremony in Santa Clara in 2014.
